The Clearinghouse on Supervised Visitation is preparing to release a series of eBooks on the 6 Protective Factors. The US Department on Health and Human Services notes that “Protective factors are conditions in families and communities that, when present, increase the health and well-being of children and families.” These characteristics help families who might be at risk of abuse, find resources, support, and/or coping strategies that allow them to function more effectively under stress. Research shows that these six protective factors are linked to a lower incidence of child abuse and neglect.
